Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was a speaker, investor, and businesswoman from the United American. She was the founder of The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001. She shortly thereafter , the company was sold. Corcoran was one of ABC's first Shark investors was a featured guest of each episode of Shark Tank. Corcoran has signed 53 deals as of February, 2020. The biggest deal she signed was her $350,000 investment in Coverplay with a 40% stake. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second of 10 children in a working class Irish-Catholic family. Florence, her mother was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father through Corcoran's early years. Her family depended sometimes on food deliveries from a friendly local grocer for free food. Corcoran is still able to remember her father as someone who would drink often and was rude to her mother. Corcoran was struggling in school, and she was later told that she was dyslexic. Corcoran attended a local Catholic elementary school and started the high school system at St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. After flunking several courses during her first year, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School and received a grade of D.
